Joe Salwen is a filmmaker from Atlanta, GA primarily with a love of film and a wide range of experience, having worked as a writer, director, and producer. He is in his final year at Northwestern University, where he is majoring in Film Studies with a focus on Creative Writing for the Media. After graduation, Joe intends to pursue a career in scripted development.
In November 2014, he produced a music video for Kevin Abstract's "Hell/Heroina," which premiered on Complex. In August 2015, Joe wrote, directed, produced, and financed his narrative short film, Room and Board. The short will be released in early 2017.
At Northwestern, Joe produced and directed the annual music video for Niteskool Productions, released in June 2016. He recently finished his term as the Script Development Chair of Studio 22 Productions, the on-campus film production company, and he is the Co-Director of Promotions for Dillo Day, the largest student-run music festival in the nation.
His favorite films include The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Young Frankenstein. He greatly admires the work of Woody Allen, Quentin Tarantino, and David Lynch.
Joe roots for the New York Giants, enjoys listening to Mark Knopfler, and prefers his Eggo Waffles toasted.
